Lorre Lynn Trytten

Energy and passion characterize Lorre Lynn Trytten's music and violin playing. In this era of electronic music, full of midi instruments, samplers and sound effects, Lorre has remained faithful to the basic sound of her centuries-old, acoustic violin, on which she has mastered a variety of musical styles.

She was born and raised in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where she was one of Margery Aber's first local students in the nationally acclaimed Suzuki program. After graduating cum laude from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in violin performance, she moved to the Netherlands, where she studied baroque violin, violin, composition and conducting in Amsterdam and Utrecht. She has performed and recorded with various classical ensembles, jazz, bluegrass, latin and pop groups. Her compositions have been performed in Europe, Japan and the United States. She has conducted several groups, including the Paradise Regained Orchestra and the Xenakis Ensemble.

"Trytten's violin playing is strongly expressive... Result: a straight-from-the-shoulder performance that sparkles and brims over with vitality..." (Gelders Dagblad, Cees Hilberdink)

"Opening the program was a performance of Impression: Blue Lake, composed by Lorre Lynn Trytten... This is an energetic and attractive work with a striking and sometimes highly original use of orchestration." (Green Bay Press Gazette, Terence O'Grady.)
