Writing text is not so very different from writing music. Lorre has always
loved both. Logically she started translating cover notes for musician
colleagues: then writing the notes themselves (for Willem Breuker and of
course for her own CD's). She has also helped her psychologist husband with
the English versions of his academic articles. At the moment she is
translating a Ph.D. thesis by Dr. Ming Govaars-Tjia from Dutch into English
for the NWO: "Dutch education in a colonial society. The Chinese experience
in Indonesia 1900-1942." Meanwhile she is transforming notes, interviews and
newspaper articles into a book about a small town in northwestern North
Dakota during the early decades of the 20th century. |
